Welcome to the weekend, my friends! Are you hanging out with me on Instagram?? If so, you already know that I’m attempting to turn my black thumb green this summer. As I write this, there is a small mountain of potting soil, flowers, herbs, and heaven only knows what else, waiting to be made pretty out there.

I’ve been sharing all the growing things around our property in my stories and I sooo appreciate all of the advice that you’ve messaged me. (Did you know that you needed to shake peonies hard before bringing them into your house?!)

ON THE BLOG this week: Did you catch the Jalapeno Corn Coleslaw on the blog this week? It’s a new favorite this year and you’re going to want to try it this summer.

Lighter than a traditional pound cake, this Iced Lemon Loaf Cake is tender with a bright sweet flavor and the lemon glaze adds the perfect touch. Along with the recipe, you’ll get a sneak peek at the new My Little Pony Baking Book (link HERE) that was just released!

What I’m CRAVING: I need to try this Reuben Chicken by Iowa Girl Eats! Sean loves a great Reuben sandwich, so my curiosity is peaked. Also, these Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies by Love from the Oven are some of my favorite cookies EVER - I am going to make a batch for my guys this week.

My FAVORITE THING this week is my two-sided waffle iron. (link HERE) We’ve been on a waffle kick for a while now, my youngest requests waffles at least once a week. This waffle iron makes it incredibly easy to pull together a waffle breakfast in very little time. Best ever waffle recipe can be found in The Weekday Lunches and Breakfasts Cookbook! (link HERE)

What I’m READING: Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen (link HERE) Like her other books, The Peach Keeper is a whimsical and fun read. I liked it.

I promised to tell you if I found one of this author’s books that I didn’t like and as it turns out I didn’t enjoy, The Sugar Queen. I started it this week and made it about a third of the way through before I returned it to the library without even finishing it. I just didn’t like it at all.

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” - Marcus Tullius Cicero

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

Mary
