Welcome to the weekend, my friends! My friend Christi is visiting us from Phoenix this week (you might know her from her delicious blog Love from the Oven) and it has been so great having her here. (Also, just an FYI for my dog loving friends, Christi has a crazy popular dog cake recipe that my Oscar will be enjoying soon. Yes, I am that person now.)

ON THE BLOG this week: Nutty Raisin Oatmeal is a family favorite year round for us. Whether it’s made on the stovetop, in the oven, in the crockpot, or in the microwave, we probably have oatmeal at least once or twice a week.

The best ever taco meat is a staple in our life. I try to always keep at least a recipe or two worth of this in the freezer all the time. We make tacos, burritos, pile it on rice, toss it into salads.

What I’m CRAVING: The weather is heating up and I’m all about the ice cream these days. Have you tried a Donut Ice Cream Sandwich?? My friend Katrina shared those this week and they sound fantastic. I think I’ll be picking up some donuts this weekend just to make them.

My FAVORITE THING this week is this extra large Swiffer we bought to help control the dog hair situation. (link HERE) We do have a Roomba that I’ve shared with you in the past, but I kid you not, in 10-15 minutes with this swiffer and one dry dust cloth we can pick up ALL the dog hair that would otherwise take that vacuum an hour and a half or more to pick up. The kids take turns running the duster/mop/swiffer thing around the house (the entire downstairs is hardwood) and it does a FANTASTIC job of gathering dirt, hair, lint, random strings and bits of whatever, everything. I’m seriously impressed.

What I’m READING: Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man's Fight for Justice by Bill Browder (link HERE) Part thriller, part business and political memoir - this book reads a bit like the older John Grisham novels. The fact that this is a true story is mind-boggling to me.

I’m actually listening to this one via audiobook because the waitlist for it at my library is looooong and Sean had it in his Audible account. The book held my attention on my drive to and from NY last week and I’m about ready to buy the book so I can finish it more easily now that I’m home. Sean listened to this one a few weeks ago and he’s been talking about it a lot, so now I just need another road trip to finish it up asap.

“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.” - Haruki Murakami

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
