Welcome to the weekend, my friends! We spent yesterday in Erie, PA checking out the Tall Ships. I knew the boys would love it, but I loved it too! If you’re anywhere near where the ships will be this summer or next, I recommend putting this on your to-do list.
I’m on my way to Kansas City this morning to spend the weekend with a friend before a week of work there. Do you have a must-see or must-eat favorite in KC? I’d love to check it out!

ON THE BLOG this week: Is there a salad more loved than the classic Strawberry Spinach Salad? This is one of our summer favorites and I make it often when strawberries are at their sweetest.

Looking ahead to fall, I made a giant batch of this Five Bean Steak and Sausage Chili to have in the freezer. My kids love to warm a bowl for lunch. I use it for topping baked potatoes, nachos, and I also toss it into my taco salads.

I’m looking forward to crisp weather and cozy nights at home. Anyone else as excited about the season change as I am?

What I’m CRAVING: Lil Luna’s Fried Ravioli caught my eye this week and it sounds pretty amazing. And if we’re going to be frying something, these Beer Battered Mushrooms need to happen as well.

Also, these Pansy Topped Shortbread Cookies by The View From Great Island might be the prettiest cookies I have ever seen.

What I’m READING: Water from My Heart by Charles Martin (link HERE) This turned out to be one of my favorite Charles Martin books. I could hardly put it down. This book began so differently from his others (I even closed the book at one point just to make sure it was the same author!) and it was a little slow to start. However, in the end, the book was so full of hope, I didn’t want it to end.

“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.” ― William Styron

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!

Mary
