Welcome to the weekend, my friends! I’d love it if you’d tell me something good today. Stories of kindness, love, innovations, laughter, and joy in the midst of everything else are making each day a bit brighter. (There’s also this song for any Barenaked Ladies fans, Patrick Stewart reading daily sonnets, and this brilliant mashup that I loved.) And for just one more grin today, this little guy wants to say “good morning!”

Together we have donated $9,870 to Feeding America over the past thirty days! I will continue to match your donations for as long as I am able. If you haven’t yet donated, you can donate HERE. Send me a screenshot of your donation and I will send you a screenshot of my matching one. Thank you so much for helping feed the hungry!

ON THE BLOG this week: Southern Style Coleslaw to go with your BBQ Pork. And if you love that coleslaw as much as we do? You’ll want to try this Coleslaw Pasta Salad soon.

Five Minute Marinara has been a family and friends favorite for almost ten years now. It works beautifully for a last minute dinner and it also makes a spectacular Eggs in Purgatory for breakfast too.

What I’m CRAVING: Hot Chicken Takeover! Oh my goodness, my oldest son and I are craving HCT like mad lately. It’s become a running joke that we will be there just as soon as they re-open. I love their food and their mission so very much. We’ve already bought a couple gift cards to do what we can to help just a little bit during this time.

My FAVORITE THING this week is the news that the Kindle version of The Weeknight Dinner Cookbook is on sale for just $.99! (link HERE) How fun is that? If you or someone you know hasn’t picked up their own copy of the cookbook yet, this is a terrific time to introduce you to the cookbook that so many people are loving right now while we are cooking more than ever.

What I’m WATCHING: Ford vs Ferrari (link HERE) Based on the true story of Carrol Shelby (automotive designer and racing driver) and the fearless Ken Miles (racing driver) this is a movie that I suspected would be a good one and turned out to be fantastic. Car fans or not, this a movie I honestly think everyone will love.

What I’m READING: After the Fire by Will Hill (link HERE) This is a “what if” scenario of what went on behind the gates of the Branch Davidian religious sect near Waco, Texas in 1993. Based on the stories that have been told over the years, this book is written from the perspective of a hypothetical child who grew up in David Koresh’s cult.

I found it hard to put this one down, in that I really wanted to get to the ending, but honestly? I also found it slow at times and hard to believe. While the entire series of events that led to the tragedy are (and should be) hard to believe, the 17-year-old main character/heroine of this story feels a little too smart and a little too savvy to have really been raised in this cult.

If you enjoy reading about religious cults, this is definitely one to add to your list. I did find it fascinating to see the ways that Koresh manipulated events to create a world that was so very small for all of his followers and they still believed in him and followed him to the end.

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
