Welcome to the weekend, my friends! I’m headed to Chicago today and I’m chilly just thinking about it. I need your help though! I’ve never been to Chicago before and I’d love to hear from you for the must-see and eat things. My schedule is kind of tight, but I did save a few hours on two different days for exploring a new place.

SUPER FUN GIVEAWAY! If you have pre-ordered a copy my new cookbook, The Weekday Lunches and Breakfasts Cookbook (link HERE) you are ahead of the game. If not, order your copy ASAP and when it arrives on the 27th, snap a photo of yourself holding it and share it on Facebook OR Instagram (or BOTH for double entries!) along with the hashtag #twlbcookbook - I’ll be choosing TEN winners, 1 winner from Facebook and 1 winner from Instagram every day for 5 days, and I’ll be shipping the lucky winners a signed copy of my first cookbook The Weeknight Dinner Cookbook along with a super cute whisk bookmark. I can hardly wait to share this new cookbook with you!

I’ve been craving berries madly for the past few weeks and I picked up several cartons of blackberries on sale last night. I’ll be making these Raspberry Scone Cookies tonight with some of those blackberries and there is also a Blackberry Coconut Crisp in my near future.

These Loaded Tailgate Tots caught my eye yesterday and I’m thinking they need to hit my meal plan in the very near future.

Also, after a lot of travel with more in the future, I’m enjoying every salad I can get my hands on this week. This Chopped Asparagus Salad and this Pear Pomegranate Salad are both calling my name now.

What I’m watching: My friend Lynne helped produce this series of three short videos and I am fascinated by the science behind CRISPR. I’ve watched each video more than once already and I’ve been reading everything I can get my hands on concerning this technology. I think there is so much potential - admittedly both amazing and somewhat scary. I am excited to see how it might change things in our future.

My FAVORITE THING this week is this portable charger (link HERE). I’ve waxed eloquent about it before, but it’s worth sharing again. I charged it to full well over two weeks ago and I’ve used it to recharge my phone several times without it even reducing the amount of power still available. I’m every bit and more impressed with it as I was when I bought it last year. This little charger holds more than enough juice to fully charge my laptop from empty. That’s kind of amazing.

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
