Welcome to the weekend, my friends! As you know, we spent the past week relaxing in GA with my brother’s family and yesterday we hit the road again. We’re spending a couple nights in North Carolina and then heading for D.C. on Sunday.

We’re spending an entire week in the D.C. area and I am so excited to share one of my favorite places with my kids! What are your favorite kid-friendly must-visit places in D.C.? I have a long list already, but I’d love to add your suggestions to it!

You can follow along on our trip (and send me all your travel tips too!) on Instagram. I’m sharing each week of our road trip on the blog as well, so you can read all about week two HERE.

On the blog this week, I shared this Italian Pasta Salad with Tomatoes, Olives, and Cucumbers. The beauty of a mayo-free pasta salad is the fact it’s perfect for summer barbecues and all the get togethers. It can be left at room temperature for a while without any food safety risk.

I also shared these Indian Spiced Steak Bites. I’ve made them a few times now and my family devours them almost the minute they’re finished cooking. They’re completely irresistible.

What I’m CRAVING: Dill Pickle Chicken Salad by Mountain Mama Cooks has been lunch in my house at least a couple times a week for the past few months and we all still love it, Southwest Chicken Skillet by Skinnytaste is also a quick dinner favorite, and these Gooey Brownies with Toasted Pecans and White Chocolate Chips by Creative Culinary hits all the chocolate craving needs.

My FAVORITE THING this week is my lap desk (link HERE). This is the best lap desk I’ve ever used, and it’s the best by a mile. It’s a folding desk, which earns it bonus points for storage, but also for the fact that the legs can be tipped in a bit to fit whichever seat your in. Even more bonus points, if being able to work while in the car is a requirement for your road trip, this is the desk. Smaller cars, large truck, my van, whatever vehicle you’re in, it just works.

What I’m READING: Written in Red by Anne Bishop (link HERE) Heads up - this is not for the faint of heart. This book is urban fantasy fiction where the humans are prey and The Others basically rule the earth. I’ve started the next book in the series already, so I did like it, but I will add the caveat that parts of the series are quite dark and the first book was harder to get into than the second one. These books are very different from other sci fi and fantasy books I’ve read and the characters were harder to follow initially.

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
