Welcome to the weekend, my friends! This week was a nonstop one here, with a production crew in the house shooting recipe videos. My friend Rebecca joined me in the kitchen and we had a whole lot of fun. You can take a peek at the Behind the Scenes highlight clips on Instagram.

My thought for the week is actually a quote from 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos (link HERE)

“Don’t underestimate the power of vision and direction. These are irresistible forces, able to transform what might appear to be unconquerable obstacles into traversable pathways and expanding opportunities. Strengthen the individual. Start with yourself. Take care with yourself. Define who you are. Refine your personality. Choose your destination and articulate your Being. As the great nineteenth-century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche so brilliantly noted, “He whose life has a why can bear almost any how.” - Jordan Peterson

On the blog this week: Homemade Buttermilk Syrup and The Best Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches. Clearly my sweet tooth was ruling my actions this week and I have no regrets about that. You are going to LOVE both of those recipes.

What I’m CRAVING: Elote (hot Mexican corn dip) is my favorite appetizer and despite the fact that I made a batch yesterday for the video work and then proceeded to devour almost half of it on my own, I’m still craving it. Fortunately, I have another half dozen ears of corn in the fridge and I’ll be making more this week.

I spied these Chorizo, Potato, and Queso Burritos over at Center Cut Cook earlier this week and they’re on my list to try soon. That queso sauce looks incredible - the odds are good I’ll smother mine in it!

My FAVORITE THING this week is Blinc mascara (link HERE). I’ve talked about this one before and let me tell you that I still love it every single bit as much. This is the only mascara I have ever used that absolutely does not smudge or leave me with black circles under my eyes. I LOVE it. When you rub your eyes, it doesn’t smear or rub off, yet, with a splash of warm water and a washcloth, it slides right off your lashes. This is truly amazing mascara and worth every penny.

What I’m READING: The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: A Memoir (link HERE) by Bill Bryson. This book was another one recommended by a reader (thanks, Allie!) and so far I’m hooked. It’s a lighthearted story of growing up in small town American in the 50’s and 60’s, told through the eyes of a child. While I wasn’t born in that time period, I strongly suspect that anyone with memories of those times will love this book even more than I already do. (If you did grow up in the 50s or 60s and you’ve read this book, I would love to know what you think of it!)

What I’m watching: Avengers Infinity War (link HERE). I finally saw this one last week and of course, I enjoyed it. I didn’t love the ending though and let me tell you, there had better be some kind of magical mystical reset in the works. Sigh. I’m a comic book movie loving nerd and I was sad to see so many characters written off this time!

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
