Welcome to the weekend, my friends! I spent a few days in Michigan this week, along with several friends. We were learning more about pig farming and how that directly relates to us all as consumers. I feel fortunate to be getting such a hands on education in all of it. (I also learned some really great new cooking methods that I’ll be sharing on the blog soon!)

ON THE BLOG this week: I shared the recipe for this Irish Raisin Soda Bread and I’ve already been hearing from several of you that have already made it and loved it. I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying this super easy bread recipe as much as we do!

Did you catch the photos of our visit to Monet’s House and Garden? It was pretty amazing to see in real life the beauty that inspired so much of his art.

I also shared a photos of the doorways we saw in Europe. As I walked through many of these doorways, everything from castles and cathedrals to thatched roof cottages in the countryside, I often wondered about the people and the families that have gone through them before me.

Did they feel welcome? Were they coming home or visiting? Did they find rest through this doorway? While my own front door is a simple affair, my prayer is always that when a friend or stranger walks through my door they will find themselves welcome.

What I’m CRAVING: I remembered this Pizza Soup the other day and I’ve been craving it since then. Now, if the weather would just cool off, I’d sure love to enjoy soup again. This Honey Garlic Roasted Pork Tenderloin by Centsless Deals needs to be dinner this week. Doesn’t it look amazing? And last but never least, have you ever seen a more mouthwatering burger? Foodiecrush always makes me hungry with her recipes, but this is truly spectacular.

My FAVORITE THING this week is my new oven thermometer (link HERE). I think this might be the best $6 I’ve spent all year. I suspected that my oven temp was off, but I had no idea how much or how to adjust for that. Having this simple little thermometer in the oven allows me to adjust the oven temperature as needed, so that I can bake much more easily without the hassle of watching things so closely. (I know, I know, I should probably just calibrate my oven, but for now this is a super easy fix that’s working!)

What I’m LISTENING to: Guardians of the Galaxy - Vol 2 (link HERE). Because one soundtrack simply wasn’t enough. I love the music in these movies and the soundtracks are truly fun.

What I’m READING: Chasing Fireflies by Charles Martin (link HERE). I’m still solidly on that Charles Martin reading binge and I’m completely okay with that. Every time I finish one of his books, I think to myself, is this one my favorite? And it’s impossible to choose one. I told a friend this week that Charles Martin has become one of my favorite authors, if not my very favorite. His writing inspires, without being at all preachy, and it never fails to make me think of ways that I can be a better person.

Wishing you a beautiful week full of little things that make you smile!
